1993 Thunderbird getting head gaskets.

My poor baby bird is in the hospital. The 1993 Thunderbirds have a known head gasket defect. Yesterday she wasn’t cooling right so I took her in, yep, head gaskets. Thankfully theres no coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant so shouldn’t be too bad. Found a guy that just does motor work, he said he could do it for $800 which is a lot cheaper than my normal mechanic quoted me: $2400!!! So I called and decided to take a loan from my 401k. I originally decided on $1400 but think I am going to up it to $1800 because my car’s lower ball joints and tie rods are in need of attention not to mention brakes. Pretty much the standard for a used 1993 vehicle with 144,000 on it. Figure I can also go get performance cap, rotor, wires, coil and plugs from Accel for about $250-$300 and have that put on while hes putting the motor back together. Also I found a Venom 400 control module on eBay which would increase HP at higher range by 25% and can also drop a cold air intake from K&N on it for a little added fun. Thats the fun part of cars… always something.
